Pedy's Pictures

I've promised to get y'all some pictures about the game. Here you go!

In this fall, I've been to 2 home football games so far.  If I wasn't there, I probably couldn't imagine how HUGE this activity is here. And it's feeling good to have the chance to experience the REAL AGGIE SPIRIT. I like it!

The first game I went: A&M vs OSU (21-7) in Sept 22, 2001

This was a very special game because this was the first home game after the 9-11 attack. In this game, instead of Maroon Out, we were RWB out this time. The attendance of this game was 82,601 and more than 70,000 RWB T-shirts were sold. They raised more than US$150,000 for the families of policemen and firefighters killed in that attack.

Left: At that day, we put on Red, Blue or White T-shirt. I was wearing blue that day and seating at the 50 yard line. It was a pretty good seat.

Right: In the beginning of the game, all the players came out and lined up in the middle of the field.

Tradition 1: Yelling, Yell Leaders

Left: Before the game start and throughout the entire game, our Yell Leaders (5 of them) will bring the whole crowd to yell. As there are so many people, it's quite impossible to hear their voices. So they'll give signal to the front crowd. Then the crowd will pass the signal all the way from the ground to the 3 deck. When everybody knows what's going to yell next, the yell leaders will start the yell.

Oh my god, nothing can be more shocking then 80,000 people shouting the same thing at the same time. It was like... wow...!

Right: A&M is Offense and at the 20 yard line.

Tradition 2: The Fighting Aggie Band

Half-time of the game, is the show time of our Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. They are awesome! They could do a lot of different patterns and sharp turns. Very Cool!

That weekend was the 125th anniversary of the Aggie band, they made the number "125" (which appeared inverted from the pictures). Also, the former students (in maroon) also came back to form another alumni band especially for this occasion.

After that, they formed the pattern "USA".
